Joule Across Spend — SAP Concur, SAP Fieldglass and SAP Business Network

Joule Across Spend — SAP Concur, SAP Fieldglass and SAP Business Network — Analytics Legends section illustration for the SAP Analytics knowledge base (concepts, studies, Academy)

As of 2026-10-04

Maps Joule across SAP's spend portfolio — SAP Concur, SAP Fieldglass, SAP Ariba and SAP Business Network — for a consultant who knows procurement and expense data. It builds a dated status ledger (generally available, Early Adopter Care, planned) from SAP's quarterly Business AI release highlights Q4 2025 to Q2 2026, names the human approver and log for each agent action, shows how to read SAP's 'up to' figures against the client's own baseline, and treats Business Network agent status as unconfirmed where only one secondary source exists.

What you will learn

  • Place the spend domain (SAP Concur, SAP Fieldglass, SAP Ariba, SAP Business Network) inside the SAP Autonomous Suite and explain why spend flows cross tenants and parties
  • Build a status ledger of spend capabilities with GA / Early Adopter Care / planned status, quarter, SAP-stated metric and source
  • Describe the four layers (embedded assistant, task agent, cross-product orchestration, external front doors) and name the seam in any cross-product flow
  • Define the human approver, log and escalation for expense reports, statements of work, supplier onboarding, invoice disputes and cross-party messages
  • Scope a one-flow pilot on the client's own baseline, treating SAP's 'up to' figures as direction only and setting an exit criterion for Early Adopter Care features
  • Re-check any capability against the latest SAP Business AI release highlights and the Roadmap Explorer before quoting it, and place unconfirmed items in a 'planned' column

Module overview

Who this is for. You know SAP procurement and spend data — purchase requisitions, invoices, contingent-labour statements of work, expense reports — from S/4HANA, Ariba or BW/Datasphere reporting, and a client's CPO or CFO now asks what Joule actually does in the "spend" domain: in SAP Concur, SAP Fieldglass and SAP Business Network, not only in SAP Ariba. This module assumes M333 (AI & LLM fundamentals), builds on M356 (Joule in procurement with SAP Ariba) and M354 (Joule for Finance) and does not repeat them. The goal is commercial and precise: know which spend capabilities are generally available, which sit in Early Adopter Care and which are only announced, what SAP itself reports as impact, where a human must approve, and how to scope a pilot that survives a procurement committee and an audit.

Prerequisites

  • Completion of M333 (AI & LLM Fundamentals for SAP Consultants); M356 (Joule in Procurement — SAP Ariba) and M354 (Joule for Finance) recommended
  • Working knowledge of at least one spend process: travel and expense, contingent-labour SOW, source-to-pay or supplier onboarding
  • Optional: access to news.sap.com release highlights and the SAP Roadmap Explorer to verify status before a client conversation

Outcomes

  • Tell a CPO or CFO exactly which spend capabilities are generally available, in Early Adopter Care or planned today, with SAP's dated source for each.
  • Name the seam, the identity path and the human approver in any flow that crosses Concur, Fieldglass, Ariba or Business Network.
  • Convert SAP's task-level 'up to' figures into the client's own units, discount for adoption and pair each efficiency metric with a quality metric.
  • Scope a one-flow pilot with baseline, approver, log, retention and an exit criterion for any Early Adopter Care feature.
