Joule Assistants — evaluating and rolling out SAP's expert assistants
As of 2026-10-16
A rollout-focused module on Joule Assistants, SAP's role-aligned coordinators of Joule Agents announced at Sapphire in May 2026 and extended at SAP Connect in October 2026. It teaches an evaluation procedure that keeps assistant, agent and skill apart, records per-assistant status from dated SAP sources (no family GA date and no Help chapter exist yet), designs human approval where SAP's autonomy mechanism is unpublished, and measures pilots against the customer's own baseline. TechEd 2026 sessions are treated as preview text to verify after 30 October.
What you will learn
- Separate assistant, agent and skill in any Joule proposal using SAP Learning's definitions.
- Build a per-assistant status register in which every row carries a SAP source and a read date.
- Design human approval gates for an assistant-driven process where SAP has not published the autonomy mechanism.
- Write a pilot charter with a customer baseline instead of SAP's indicative percentages.
Module overview
Who this is for. You have Joule running for a customer (M360 covers activation, roles and identity; M386 covers Joule Work) and a sponsor now asks for "the finance close assistant" or "the sourcing assistant" because SAP showed them at Sapphire and SAP Connect. This module teaches you to evaluate and roll out Joule Assistants, SAP's role-aligned coordinators of Joule Agents, without over-promising. It does not repeat agent building (M326), production testing (M374) or protocol design (M327); it connects them to a scoped pilot. Concept background: C394 (this module's card), C024, C265, C381.
Prerequisites
- Completion of M360 (Joule Rollout — Activation, Roles, Identity and Tenancy) or equivalent hands-on Joule activation experience.
- Familiarity with the Joule Agents and Joule Studio vocabulary from M326 or C106.
- Ability to read a finance close or a sourcing process at the level of its main steps.
Outcomes
- Tell a sponsor, with source and date, which Joule Assistants are documented, which are catalogue text only and which have no published availability.
- Explain without notes what an assistant, an agent and a skill each do and who owns each in a pilot.
- Deliver an approval design and a baseline plan for one assistant-driven process slice.
- Turn the TechEd 2026 sessions into a dated list of verification questions for SAP.
