What is Certification Stack Strategy?

What it is

Certification stack strategy is the decision of which credentials to hold, in what order, and which to deliberately skip — treating certification as a portfolio with a cost of capital rather than a checklist.

Why it matters

Certifications do two different jobs and consultants routinely confuse them. One is gate-passing: a partner needs a certified head to bid, so the credential is worth whatever the bid is worth, regardless of what you learned. The other is signalling: a client or recruiter reads it as evidence of currency. The first is a commercial asset with an owner; the second is a personal one, and it decays.
