Tableau Agent + Pulse (formerly Einstein Copilot for Tableau)

What it is

Tableau Agent (formerly Einstein Copilot for Tableau) and Tableau Pulse are Salesforce's two answers to conversational analytics: Tableau Agent assists authoring inside the workbook (a conversational variant, Tableau Agent in Pulse, formerly Enhanced Q&A or Discover, answers questions about metrics and requires Tableau+ or Try AI), Pulse pushes metric movements and their explanations to the consumer without a dashboard visit. Both are Salesforce-platform features rather than SAP ones, which is the fact that matters for positioning.

Why it matters to an SAP consultant

Because it is the comparison a client will make out loud. When a CIO asks why SAP Analytics Cloud rather than Tableau, the honest answer is not that one tool is better — it is that the integration depth differs, and the depth is what determines total cost. Tableau reaches SAP data through connectors and extracts; SAC reaches it through the semantic layer the SAP landscape already maintains.

That distinction survives every feature comparison. A Copilot answer is only as governed as the extract behind it, and an extract is a second definition of the truth that somebody now maintains.

How to position it honestly

Concede the interface. Pulse's metric-first, notification-led model is genuinely good product design, and pretending otherwise costs you credibility in the room. Then move the conversation to where the difference is structural: currency conversion, hierarchy handling, row-level security inherited from the source, and what happens when the S/4 model changes.

Why it matters

• Deep Tableau customers face an active Tableau Next migration decision in 2026-2027, separate from the Copilot/Pulse features themselves.
