Selling into a CAC 40 or FTSE 100 account means facing a buying committee of five to eight people who share no common success criteria — and a procurement gate that can take nine to eighteen months to clear. The number that matters: independents typically enter at 60–75% of their direct rate through an SI's bench, trading margin for the account access and administrative cover that gets them past the preferred-supplier list. The module maps who can say no, how the PSL actually works, and how to defend a top-of-band rate once you are in the room.

What you will learn

  • Map the five-to-eight-member buying committee in a CAC 40 or FTSE 100 account, identifying each stakeholder's decision authority, success criteria, and likely objection before the first formal proposal.
  • Design a preferred-supplier list entry strategy using either the periodic open-tender path or the sponsor-led exception path, and prepare the procurement qualification documentation typically required.
  • Apply multi-threading techniques to maintain active relationships at the technical, economic, and architecture levels simultaneously across a nine-to-eighteen-month sales cycle.
  • Construct a rate defence for the top of the senior or principal band based on a specific, measurable outcome from a comparable engagement rather than on credentials alone.

The Reality of Selling into a CAC 40 or FTSE 100 Account

Large European enterprises are not simply bigger versions of mid-market clients. The procurement infrastructure, the political dynamics, and the buying timeline operate by different rules — and an SAP analytics specialist who applies mid-market sales instincts to a CAC 40 or FTSE 100 account will lose to consultants who understand those rules.

The defining characteristic of a large European enterprise engagement is that no single person can say yes, but many people can say no. Understanding who each of those people is, what they care about, and how they interact with each other is the prerequisite for everything else in this module.

The Buying Committee: Who Is Actually in the Room

In a CAC 40 or FTSE 100 SAP analytics engagement, the buying committee typically has five to eight members, none of whom share the same success criteria. Mapping them before you make a proposal — not during the proposal stage — is the work.
