What is Insight Apps?

Insight Apps start at 70-80% completion instead of a blank canvas — the difference between selling a 6-month custom build and a 6-week activation package, at a different rate.

What it is

Insight Apps are pre-built analytics applications shipped by SAP and partners through BDC — packaged combinations of Data Products + Datasphere Analytic Models + SAC Stories + Joule grounding configurations targeting a specific industry × role × use-case. Where custom analytics projects start from a blank canvas, Insight Apps start at 70-80% completion; the consultant's job is activation, tailoring, and integration with customer-specific data. For SAP analytics consultants, Insight App fluency is the difference between selling 6-month custom builds and selling 6-week activation packages — a different deal motion at a different rate.

The five Insight App categories. (1) Industry-specific — banking risk, retail merchandising, pharma R&D performance, automotive supply-chain. Each ships with industry-standard dimensions + measures + benchmarks. (2) Function-specific — finance close, HR talent analytics, procurement spend, sales pipeline. Cross-industry but role-tailored. (3) Process-specific — order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, hire-to-retire. End-to-end process visibility. (4) Joule agent apps — pre-configured Joule grounded on specific Insight App data; "Ask Joule about your Q3 pipeline" out of the box. (5) Partner-published — independent SI/SaaS partners shipping vertical apps via SAP Store.

Why it matters

Over 90% of common SAP analytics asks have an Insight App candidate — checking the catalog before scoping custom work avoids reinventing a shipped solution.
Source-column mapping between the App's expected fields and the customer's actual source system is where most remediation effort concentrates, not the App itself.
The activation motion (provisioning in 1-2 days, then mapping and tailoring) is a fundamentally different deal shape and pricing model than a from-scratch build.
