SAP AI Agent Hub bets that at enterprise scale the real question isn't "which agent vendor" but "how do I govern every agent touching my SAP data" — and it wins that bet by bundling free what LangSmith and Datadog charge per trace for.

SAP AI Agent Hub is SAP's vendor-agnostic governance and observability control plane for AI agents, announced at Sapphire 2026. The premise is simple: once an enterprise runs agents built by more than one vendor — SAP's own Joule Agents alongside Microsoft Copilot Studio agents, Google Vertex AI agents, OpenAI Assistants, Anthropic Claude-based tool-agents, or Databricks Mosaic AI agents — the hard question stops being which agent framework to standardize on and becomes how to see, audit and control every agent that touches enterprise data, regardless of who built it. Agent Hub is SAP's answer: a single registry, trace store, policy engine and cost ledger sitting above the agent runtimes rather than replacing them.

Why it matters: enterprises are past the pilot stage. When an organization runs dozens or hundreds of agents against ERP, CRM and analytics data, unmanaged agent sprawl becomes an audit and security liability before it becomes a productivity win. Regulators are not waiting either — the EU AI Act's documentation obligations (Art. 9-49) require traceable evidence of what a high-risk AI system did, when, and on what basis, for every deployment touching EU citizens or EU-based operations. A governance layer that can answer "which agent read this customer record, under which policy, and what did it cost" is now a compliance necessity as much as an operational one.
