What is SAP × Google Cloud Multi-Agent AI Partnership?

SAP's May 2026 Google Cloud partnership uses the open Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol so a Joule agent can delegate a sub-task to a Vertex AI agent, and vice versa, without seeing its internals.

The SAP-Google Cloud multi-agent partnership, expanded in May 2026, solves a problem every SAP analytics architect eventually hits: two AI ecosystems that cannot talk to each other. SAP customers running Joule agents grounded in Datasphere and the SAP Knowledge Graph, and Google customers running Vertex AI agents for supply-chain optimization or document processing, historically needed a custom integration layer for every cross-system workflow — bespoke API glue, brittle webhook chains, and no shared vocabulary for "here is a task, do it, hand back a result." The Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol, an open standard Google co-developed and released to the wider ecosystem, gives these two agent populations a common contract: a Joule agent can delegate a sub-task to a Vertex AI agent, and vice versa, without either side needing to understand how the other one reasons internally.
