What is SAP × Google Cloud?

On 22 April 2026 SAP and Google Cloud extended their partnership so Joule agents and Gemini Enterprise can coordinate work across SAP CX and Google data (marketing first, H2 2026); at Sapphire in May they added bidirectional agent-to-agent (A2A) collaboration between Joule and Google's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, plus SAP BDC Connect for BigQuery in private preview.

What was announced, and when

22 April 2026 — Google Cloud Next, Las Vegas. SAP and Google Cloud announced an expanded partnership "to deploy multi-agent AI". Through integrations between SAP Engagement Cloud, SAP Customer Experience (SAP CX), Joule and Gemini Enterprise, joint customers can deploy agents that access data across both ecosystems and execute goal-level instructions — the release's examples are prompts such as increasing repeat purchases from the last 30 days. Gemini Enterprise acts as the coordination hub. Marketing is the first use case, available to customers in H2 2026, and SAP describes the orchestration model as designed to extend across the SAP CX portfolio. The same release covers SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Google BigQuery: bidirectional, zero-copy sharing of semantically rich SAP data with BigQuery. SAP President and Chief Product Officer Balaji Balasubramanian called it "a leap forward for AI agents that can collaborate naturally and execute seamlessly".

Why it matters

It corrects the timeline: the partnership expansion was announced on 22 April 2026 at Google Cloud Next, with bidirectional Joule ↔ Gemini Enterprise agent collaboration added at Sapphire in May.
It separates availability states: marketing multi-agent scenario H2 2026, BDC Connect for BigQuery in private preview at Sapphire, Cortex Framework v7 GA in August 2026.
It describes A2A as the specification defines it (Agent Card, Task, Message, Part, Artifact, contextId) rather than the outdated 'Session' model.
