What is Joule Agents Library and Agent Catalogue?

SAP's delivered Joule Agents are activated, not built: each has its own help product, prerequisites (Joule integration, scope items, business roles, often extra entitlements) and a release status (beta, early adopter, restricted, GA). This card lists agents verified on SAP sources as of 23 Sep 2026 and how to adopt them.

The Joule agent catalogue is the set of agents SAP builds, maintains and ships inside its applications. In SAP LeanIX terms these are standard agents: "a fixed, predefined set of capabilities and tools" that customers configure or activate but cannot change; extended versions are standard extended agents (C025). Custom agents are covered in C162 and C113.

How big is the catalogue, really?

Counts depend on the date and on whether you read announcements or availability:

Sapphire 2025: more than 40 Joule Agents announced; the first set available by July 2025.
Q1 2026 release highlights: "over 30 specialized agents" and more than 2,500 Joule skills available.
Sapphire 2026 (May): more than 200 agents and over 50 Joule Assistants across the Autonomous Suite, "available in the coming months".

Treat the 200 figure as a roadmap. For a customer, the only list that matters is the one for their products, edition, region and release, which SAP documents agent by agent on help.sap.com.

Why it matters

Announcement counts (40+, 200+) and availability lists diverge; scoping on the announcement instead of the help page for your edition and region is the most common planning error.
Each standard agent carries concrete prerequisites (scope items, roles, OData services, entitlements) that belong in the project plan from day one.
SAP adds agents every quarter, so the build-or-adopt decision must be revisited at each release.

In SuccessFactors, agents come with assistants enabled in SAP for Me; agent permissions are granted per role; billing is per agent action.
SAP AI Agent Hub — where standard agents are auto-linked to fact sheets — launched inside SAP LeanIX on 4 November 2025, not at Sapphire 2026; its 22 September 2026 AI Governance Assistant adds EU AI Act/NIST classification to every discovered agent.
Treat the 200+ agents / 50+ assistants figure from Sapphire 2026 as a roadmap ceiling, not an availability count — cross-check help.sap.com per product, edition and region before committing a date to a client.
A standard agent's release status (beta, Early Adopter Care, Restricted Availability, GA) is itself a contract condition, not a technicality — programme conditions differ by status and must be accepted explicitly.
SAP Connect keynote (6 October 2026): more than 20 Joule Assistants and over 200 Joule Agents created since Sapphire, more than 400 agents targeted by year-end; a creation count, not a count of generally available agents in a tenant.

Terms used on this page

Standard agent: Agent delivered by SAP with a fixed set of capabilities and tools; customers activate and configure it.
Restricted Availability: Release status in which SAP makes a feature available to selected customers before general availability.
Scope item: SAP Best Practices unit of process content that must be activated before certain agents work (e.g., J58, BJ5).
Premium AI capability: Commercial category of SAP Business AI features, including agents, that consume AI Units according to usage.
SAP AI Agent Hub: Cross-vendor registry and governance layer for agents, LLMs and MCP servers, launched inside SAP LeanIX on 4 November 2025; standard agents are auto-linked to fact sheets when discovered.
AI Governance Assistant: Capability inside SAP AI Agent Hub, announced 22 September 2026, that classifies discovered agents (and LLMs, MCP servers) against EU AI Act and NIST risk categories.
Early Adopter Care: SAP programme giving selected customers pre-GA access to a feature or agent under specific contractual conditions, one step before Restricted Availability or GA.
Financial Closing Orchestration Agent: Agent that coordinates the Accounting Accruals Agent, Journal Entry Agent and Receivables/Payables Clearing Agent during month-end close in S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition.
