What is SAP BDC Roadmap 2026?

BDC's four-column roadmap (Available, Q2, Q3, Q4 2026+) is the canonical commitments timeline a customer buys into — Q2 alone adds Brownfield Snowflake SolEx, Microsoft Fabric connectivity, and 200 net-new Data Products.

What it is

The BDC roadmap is the delivery calendar SAP published at Sapphire 2026 for Business Data Cloud, split into four columns: Available today, Q2 2026, Q3 2026, and Q4 2026-and-beyond. It is not a marketing slide — it is the literal list of commitments a customer is buying when they sign a Business Data Cloud contract this year, and every item's column placement determines whether a presales conversation is credible or over-promised.

Why it matters

Selling or scoping a Business Data Cloud engagement without the roadmap in hand is how consultants accidentally promise a client a capability that will not ship for two quarters. Conversely, treating everything as "future roadmap" undersells what is genuinely available today and cedes ground to a competitor who reads the calendar correctly. Getting the four columns right is table-stakes literacy for anyone advising on BDC in 2026.

How it works — the four columns

Available today carries the weight of the offer: the Greenfield Solution Extension for Snowflake (Business Data Cloud data managed inside a customer's Snowflake estate), BDC Connect as the standard integration service with Databricks Enterprise as its first live partner, more than 300 SAP Data Products spanning Finance, Spend, Supply Chain, HR and industry verticals, SAP Databricks as an SAP-managed embedded runtime, the BW Data Product Generator and Query template generator that give BW customers a migration path, the first wave of AI-Infused Workflows, and two executive-facing surfaces — Cloud ERP Intelligence for the COO and People Intelligence for the CHRO.

Why it matters in practice

Knowing which column a feature sits in is explicitly the difference between a credible presales conversation and an over-committed one that creates delivery risk on day one.
The hyperscaler-connectivity sequence is dated and concrete: Databricks Enterprise available today, Microsoft Fabric in Q2, AWS in Q3 — completing the three-hyperscaler trio.
Data Products were slated to go from 300+ to a committed 500+ by Q2 2026 — that date has passed (2026-08-16) with no SAP confirmation the 500+ figure was reached; treat the count as directional until confirmed against the live catalogue, not a settled fact.

Sales discipline: anchor customer procurement on confirmed-live capability only — the Q2 2026 column itself has since slipped (Fabric to H2/Q3 2026) and its 500+ Data Products figure is unconfirmed, so treat everything past 'Available today' as deck-only until SAP firms and confirms dates.
The roadmap's four columns map to procurement risk, not feature richness: 'Available' carries zero delivery risk, 'Q4 2026+' carries the most — price and staff a proposal accordingly.
Databricks Enterprise's head start (available today, vs Fabric and AWS still pending) is itself a scoping signal: a Databricks-anchored client can move first; a Fabric- or AWS-anchored client inherits the connector's slippage risk.
