SAP publishes no dated roadmap a consultant can contract against, and the vendor material in circulation mixes shipped capability with announced intent inside a single sentence. What follows is our corpus sorted by stage instead — generally available, preview, dated forecast — each item with the date our source read it, because on SAP AI that date does more work than the item.

The Joule copilot is shipping across the SAP estate — S/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, SuccessFactors, Concur, Ariba, BTP and Business Data Cloud — with semantic grounding against Datasphere analytic models, inherited data-access control and governed action orchestration.

Joule for Consultants: GA since 2024, launched at SAP TechEd Bangalore 2024. Skill Builder: GA July 2025. Agent Builder: GA December 2025, announced at TechEd Berlin 2025 — both from our 15-tool review as of 2026-05-12, marked vendor-disclosed and corroborated by more than one trade publication. SAP-RPT-1 was introduced Q4 2025, and Joule support for the agent-to-agent protocol and the Model Context Protocol is recorded in the same pass.

Preview or in transition — the band that gets misquoted

Joule Studio as an umbrella label is unsettled in our corpus: one card records GA in Q1 2026, two others public preview since Sapphire 2025 with GA targeted H2 2026, all three reviewed within two days of each other in July 2026.

Joule for Recruiters was still in private preview as of Q1 2026. Joule for Developers — Joule Skills and Datasphere or BDC data wired into Cursor, Claude Code, Cline and Windsurf over the Model Context Protocol — was announced at TechEd Berlin 2025 and is described as moving to broad availability through 2026: moving, not arrived. Elastic capacity-unit bursting is preview in Q2 2026 with a GA target of H2 2026.

Dated forecast — quote the date with the label

Our 15-tool review carries a Q2 to Q4 2026 band explicitly tagged vendor-disclosed and forecast, as of 2026-05-12: broadened availability for Joule for Developers, GA of the LeanIX agent hub, Signavio agent mining, and the SAP Build local MCP server.

On the Business Data Cloud side, two dated items: Knowledge-Graph-powered semantic search from Q2 2026, and AI Agentic Planning in Q3 2026 — the step from helping the user to doing the task. Two acquisitions announced in May 2026 sit in the same band: an announced acquisition is a roadmap signal, not a capability a customer can provision.

The agent count, and why the phrasing matters

The figure in circulation is more than thirty specialised Joule agents across five domains — finance and controlling, supply chain and procurement, human resources, sales and customer service, IT and platform management.

Our corpus records that number with the phrase “available or in active development” as of Q1 FY2026. The phrasing mixes two stages inside one count, so it cannot be repeated as delivered capability: name the agent that carries the business case and establish its own stage. The same caution applies to the Autonomous Suite framing above it, which carries a hard prerequisite — governed data products must be provisioned before those agents function.

Carrying a roadmap into a proposal without owning its risk

Scope only what you can name a stage and a source date for: “generally available since July 2025, per our tool review as of May 2026” survives a challenge, “available now” does not. Put forecast items in an option clause with the date attached, so a slipped roadmap moves an option rather than breaching a commitment.
