What is SAP Joule for Consultants?

SAP Joule for Consultants is a standalone conversational assistant for SAP project teams, grounded in SAP's gated knowledge (SAP Notes, KBAs, 250M lines of ABAP) plus the customer's own uploaded knowledge; it runs in a dedicated BTP subaccount and costs 35 AI Units per user per month.

What it is

SAP Joule for Consultants (J4C) is a conversational AI solution that gives SAP consultants — functional, technical, and increasingly presales and support staff — expert answers grounded in SAP's own knowledge. SAP's product page describes the knowledge base as more than 12 terabytes of expert-curated SAP content including material from over 100 SAP certifications, 250 million lines of ABAP and 30 million lines of CDS code, and over three million non-public documents such as SAP Notes and Knowledge Base Articles. Answers come with citations to the original sources.

It is not a copilot wired into a customer's live S/4HANA configuration. The sources reviewed describe grounding in SAP's knowledge base, optional web search controlled by an administrator, and customer-specific knowledge that users or admins upload (custom knowledge grounding, expert workspaces with instructions and files). It does not read a tenant's transports, configuration tables or fit-gap list on its own.

Why it matters

J4C gives consultants cited access to gated SAP content — SAP Notes, KBAs and certification material — that general-purpose chatbots cannot reach, which is where its value over a generic assistant lies.
It is priced per user (35 AI Units/month — about €245 using the €7 example on SAP's J4C page; contract price negotiated) and remains the only per-user SAP AI offer after Q3 2026, so a consulting team can budget it like a tool licence.
It is grounded in SAP knowledge plus what the team uploads, not in a client's live system — scoping it as a configuration robot sets expectations it cannot meet.
