BW Data Product Generator

The BW Data Product Generator (add-on for BW 7.5 / BW/4HANA) generates governed BDC data products from InfoProviders; the BW/4HANA model transfer generates the Datasphere views + Analytic Models. Together they remove a large share of the mechanical translation work; what remains: rename /BIC/ columns to business labels, wire DAC from foundation PEs, fill the BDC data contract. Wave pipeline: Generate (day 1-2) → naming + DAC review (day 3) → enrich + promote (day 4-10). Sign-off gate: 100 % business names + DAC tested + data contract published.

Module overview
The BW Data Product Generator is SAP's add-on for SAP BW 7.5 and BW/4HANA that reads existing InfoProviders — advanced DataStore Objects, CompositeProviders, InfoObjects — and generates governed Business Data Cloud data products from them, published into BDC where Datasphere and SAC consume them while BW stays the system of record during coexistence. The Datasphere-side views and Analytic Models come from a separate, equally documented path — the BW/4HANA model transfer that imports BW models into Datasphere — and this module treats both outputs the same way: as generated starting points. Together they remove a large share of the mechanical translation labour in a BW migration — reading InfoObject definitions, key figure structures, and navigation attributes by hand and manually recreating them. The remaining work — semantic enrichment, Data Access Control wiring, naming alignment, and business-glossary mapping — is where senior consultants earn the engagement, and it is worth being precise about exactly where the automation stops, because clients who have been sold the Generator as a magic wand need an honest explanation of what still requires human judgement.

Outcomes
