The BW Data Product Generator is SAP's accelerator that inspects BW/4HANA InfoProvider metadata and generates matching Datasphere views, Analytic Models, and BDC Data Product shells. It eliminates a large share of the mechanical translation labour in a BW migration — reading InfoObject definitions, key figure structures, and navigation attributes by hand and manually recreating them as Datasphere objects. The remaining work — semantic enrichment, Data Access Control wiring, naming alignment, and business-glossary mapping — is where senior consultants earn the engagement, and it is worth being precise about exactly where the automation stops, because clients who have been sold the Generator as a magic wand need an honest explanation of what still requires human judgement.
